About Austin Family Institute
More Than Therapy. A Mission.
For 30 years, Austin Family Institute (AFI) has been committed to increasing access to thoughtful, affordable mental healthcare for individuals, couples, and families in our community.
Founded in 1996, AFI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity and training institute dedicated to making quality mental healthcare more accessible while preparing emerging therapists to provide thoughtful, systemic care.
Our work is grounded in the belief that strong individuals, healthy relationships, and connected families contribute to a thriving community. Through affordable therapy, advanced training, and community partnerships, we work to strengthen the wellbeing of the Austin community.
At Austin Family Institute, our mission is to increase access to mental healthcare for the Austin community by providing thoughtful and affordable therapy to families, couples, and individuals while training emerging clinicians in marriage and family therapy.
Our Story
Since 1996, Austin Family Institute has been part of the Austin community, providing accessible mental healthcare while supporting the education and development of emerging therapists.
Over the past 30 years, AFI has grown and evolved alongside the community we serve. Our commitment, however, has remained consistent: to make meaningful mental healthcare more accessible and to strengthen individuals, couples, and families through a systemic and relational approach.
Today, AFI continues this work through affordable therapy, therapist training, and community-centered partnerships. As we look toward the next 30 years, we are building on our history while expanding our reach and deepening our impact across the Austin community.
