Stephanie Herndon, Graduate Associate
Supervised by Lauren Masciarelli, MA, LPC-S, LMFT-S
Stephanie (she/her) is passionate about working with individuals, couples, and families facing numerous challenges including anxiety, depression, life transitions, emotion regulation, stress management, communication issues, premarital counseling, and more. Stephanie has a particular interest in child and adolescent development, women’s mental health, parent-child relationships, and supporting families across the lifespan.
Life is full of challenges and we often times get stuck in cycles that do not serve us, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Stephanie believes in a collaborative approach to therapy that is client-led and solution-focused. She leads with curiosity and empowers clients as the experts in their own lives. As a systemic therapist, Stephanie will use interventions from a variety of therapeutic models to create a treatment plan tailored to your background and needs.
Stephanie is dedicated to fostering a safe and inclusive environment and strives to provide affirming care for all, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
With a long-standing interest in mental health and a deep curiosity about people, Stephanie’s transition to counseling comes as a second career. Stephanie earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin, and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University.
Currently honing her personal therapy style at Austin Family Institute, Stephanie is excited to grow and learn in a setting that emphasizes systems therapy and client-centered care. Stephanie brings intentionality, empathy, and a desire to help clients navigate challenges while also empowering them to achieve their goals.
Outside of the therapy room, Stephanie enjoys yoga, pilates, and exploring the vibrant culture that exists in our community.
