Montinique Thomas, Graduate Associate
Supervised by Lauren Masciarelli, MA, LPC-S, LMFT-S
My name is Montinique, and I have always had a deep passion for working with people and supporting mental health. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Youth and Community Studies from the University of Texas at Austin, which inspired me to pursue a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Abilene Christian University, where I am currently completing my studies.
Through my training, I have gained both academic and practical understanding of systemic approaches such as Structural Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). At Austin Family Institute, I am excited to continue learning and growing as I put these approaches into practice. My goal is to ensure that every client feels safe, seen, and supported throughout their therapeutic journey.
Growing up in a big, lively family has fueled my passion for working with couples and families, particularly those seeking stronger communication and practical tools for navigating life’s transitions. As a lifelong Austinite, I feel privileged to serve the community I call home and to walk alongside its residents as they navigate different stages of life.
Outside of therapy, I enjoy listening to music, reading romance novels, traveling occasionally and experimenting with new recipes—especially the fun ones I discover on TikTok.
