Laura Evans, MA, LMFT
Laura Evans holds a Master of Arts in Counseling from St. Edward's University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. She previously worked as a Research Assistant for Austin Marriage Project, a study that examines how couples grow and change over the first few years of marriage and what factors contribute to strong, healthy marriages. This experience informed her passion for helping others flourish in their lives and their relationships.
Laura strives to authentically connect with each client, validating the perspectives and stories of each person. She believes in the resiliency of all individuals and that the empowerment and hope cultivated through therapy can create lasting change.
In her work with couples, Laura treats the relationship. Aimed at reducing blame, her approach involves teaming up with the couple to overcome the conflict that can wedge itself between partners. Her goal is for couples to leave therapy feeling greater levels of conflict management and communication skills, empathy for their partner, and connectedness.
Laura works with a variety of issues including: premarital counseling, couples therapy, open/non-monogamous/polyamorous relationships, intimacy and sex, families with teens, parenting skills, co-parenting, blended families, and couples facing a potential separation or divorce.
